Make a backup

Your bookkeeping lives only on your device, so a backup is your safety net. boeq exports a single, password-protected archive that you can keep in iCloud Drive or on another device.

Export a backup

1. Go to Instellingen → Versleutelde backup.
2. Tap Exporteer versleutelde backup.
3. Choose a backup password and repeat it. It must be at least 8 characters.
4. Choose where to put it:
   • Lokaal bestand — pick any location on your device.
   • iCloud Drive — saved to your Boeq Backups folder (if iCloud Drive is on).
5. boeq writes an encrypted .zip containing your database and all receipt attachments, and confirms how many attachments were written.

Remember your password

The backup is encrypted with your password, and that password never leaves your device — there is no copy on any server. If you forget it, the backup cannot be opened. Save it in a password manager.

The backup reminder

If you’ve never made a backup, or your last one is more than 7 days old, boeq shows a reminder banner so you don’t drift too far without a safe copy.

Using iCloud Drive

If iCloud Drive isn’t enabled, boeq tells you how to turn it on (Systeeminstellingen → Apple-account → iCloud). This is the only way boeq sends data off your device — and only because you asked it to, fully encrypted.
